Chains Of Oppression

Sea rocks
Isaiah 58:6
The kind of fasting I want is this: Remove the chains of oppression and the yoke of injustice, and let the oppressed go free.

Loud And Clear

The Internet is “fool” of information. No, it’s not a typo because we are being fooled every day of so much news that we can’t see the forest. Reading the news is included in my daily routine, and I always have this feeling of being overwhelmed by so much text to read. Still, I am clueless of most of the needed data fed to my brain in order to comprehend the message. Unfortunately, this “confusion” led to protests in our country.

There is always one solution to this problem: Go to the source. But, the problem is we human beings tend to rely on “other” sources for important information because these “other” sources are much accessible.

The other day, I saw a short comic strip describing the vaccine to be administered to front-liners. It was short, specific, and crystal clear. It was about five pages with cartoon drawings and big fonts with the government logo. It was the official Facebook page for our country. It popped-up to my news feed and so I read it. And, I was glad they made it because after reading hundreds of news articles about the vaccine, I was still unsure about my knowledge. Now, it’s as clear as the noon day sky.

Another thing that helps me get reliable news is from the radio. We listen to the radio every day because of my dad who was a news junkie.

I remember the time on our church retreat we played a game called, “Pass the message.” We form lines of different groups and the first person in line will tell the message and pass on to others by whispering it to their team mates until it reaches the last person. Whoever gets the whole message right is the winner.

Communication is crucial in today’s world. We have our phones and the internet to thank for it. We don’t have a lack of tools to communicate to others. The problem lies when our message that we pass on is not clear to others who receive it. Therefore, we get our information from those near to the source, and cut-off the middle men to be more reliable because information passed to many people loses some of that information. Just like we learned from the game.

During this pandemic, we rely on information to guide our decisions we make daily. Information is power. However, that information should be “Loud and Clear.”

Solutions Book

My New Book Called, “Solutions” Just Launched On Amazon!

This book came to fruition when I was searching and seeking answers. There must be a clear way to guide us in this maze in life, and I wanted to help people who are desperately in need.

The purpose of this book is to bring an easy to grasp “generalized” form of ideas that works. It may help you find solutions faster than by trial and error because these solutions have been used throughout my journey in life and proven in most cases. I know relying on our own intellect is not enough, and truly we always need God’s help. Those God’s help came to me and made it into this form written on a book for easier reading.

I hope and pray that this book will serve as a practical tool in giving you ways that lead you to the right path.

“A person who covers up his foolishness is better than one who keeps his wisdom to himself.”

Laws Of Physics

I was watching a lecture by Richard Feynman, a renowned scientist, and discovered that everything is irreversible. All atoms in the universe could only move forward and cannot be moved backward. It is the law of physics.

He later reiterated that in a film, you could play a movie in reverse, but in reality, it’s impossible to put every atom in reverse and turn back the clock so to speak. Again, you can only move forward not backward.

This made me ponder about what we do in life. That in every action there is an equal and opposite reaction, or you reap what you sow as told in the scriptures. That is God’s law. Therefore, in every action that we do, we must be careful. We don’t know everything, but only God is Omniscient. That’s why we can only rely on God in everything in every atom that causes our relationships with family, friends, and others.

Time is irreversible. We cannot undo our past mistakes. But, what we can do is ask God for repentance and let God fix the errors that we made. Yes, it is hard for someone to correct things that have happened. However, God is all Sovereign. If we don’t ask God then we don’t receive His correction.

“Do not deceive yourselves; no one makes a fool of God. You will reap exactly what you plant. If you plant in the field of your natural desires, from it you will gather the harvest of death; if you plant in the field of the Spirit, from the Spirit you will gather the harvest of eternal life. So let us not become tired of doing good; for if we do not give up, the time will come when we will reap the harvest.”

Galatians 6:7-9

Happy New Year!

The end of 2020 is here, and we could celebrate. Vaccines are coming to all people and this nightmare will soon end hopefully in 2021. However, as the year closes, a new strain of the virus is spreading rapidly and wreaking havoc, worse than its predecessor. I don’t want to celebrate the new year with disappointment, but with a word of caution.

People are happy with the vaccines and that is good news! But, we should not get carried away and put science as our hope. God is our only hope and nothing else. Do not replace God with scientific discoveries and make them into an idol. Do not worship or bow down to any idols made by hands, says the Lord. And, we should be careful that this would not happen, or we would sin and suffer a more terrible consequence. I hope that people will put their trust in God not on science.

We could make science as something that praises God. We should thank God for the knowledge and wisdom that goes on to developing vaccines. The men and women who sacrificed their lives for us to be saved. Isn’t that what God wants for us? That even when we die, we could be rest assured that our souls will be snatched from the fire?

So, I hope you’ll have a merry and wonderful new year even in this crisis and stay optimistic. This crisis will end and we pray that 2021 will be a year of a start of a brighter future.

Happy are those who trust the Lord,

who do not turn to idols

or join those who worship false gods.

Brains

The CPU is the brain of a computer. With the M1 chip on Macs, the importance of Apple’s new silicon is crucial. This M1 chip does not only affect Apple’s computers, but of all PCs. Moving forward, you will eventually see PC manufacturers design their own chips to make hardware and software integration more tight. This has so many advantages. For instance, software speed improvements. Because you designed your own chips, the software that powers it will make it more efficient, thus saving energy. You don’t have to rely on third parties to schedule your updates, so it also saves money.

As you can see, Apple’s own silicon chip speed improvements are breakthroughs. You don’t only get faster software, but it saves more energy. You get a whopping additional 6 hours of battery life on a single charge! That’s almost a day of more fun and work without getting tethered to the power outlet. Moreover, it saves the environment.

If you head to Apple’s website, you can read all the juicy details. What’s more interesting is the future of what the rest of the world uses and that’s our PCs.

Apple has become the leader in computing in general. They inspire us to do even greater; to challenge ourselves to reach our utmost potential. We thrive in healthy competition.

I remember the time when I joined the science quiz bee, I prepared so much that I read the whole textbook. However, I lost. At least I learned something and gave me high grades in our subject that to me is a ‘win!’

Pay As You Go

I hate monthly subscriptions (period).

They made software like gasoline for your car, it’s useless without it. So, you have to pay rent. I like to buy software with front up cost and I can use it whatever and whenever I like. Open source software is also good since it’s free, and they live by donationware. I love charity.

The good thing about subscriptions is it’s more affordable if you know you are going to use it for a little while. But, if your company needs it for their survival, then you’re out of luck. You are pushed into this mindset that you pay for software in order to do work. That is why I would like software that you pay as you go.

For example, a news website that nobody subscribes to because of hefty monthly or yearly fees. Having this pay-as-you-go service, you can only just pay web pages that you only visit on their website. In one month, I just visited two webpages on abc.com. So, you will see in your viewing history that you only have two web pages visited and would only pay for those. This will eliminate websites bombarding you with so many ads that clog down the Internet. As a consumer, ads will eat up your mobile data. As a company, ads will make your website look bad. But, I don’t mean to remove ads altogether. Ads will only be removed if you subscribed to this pay-as-you-go service.

This is not a replacement for monthly subscriptions, but this is meant as an addition. For poor people who do not want intrusive ads, this is an obvious choice. I am happy to subscribe to tens of websites if they have this because I really like supporting them without breaking the bank.

Just A Potato

I could recall the part in The Simpsons where Bart is doing his scientific experiments, growing a potato on a dish. Because of his lack of patience and too much excitement, he eagerly checks his potato every hour if it has grown and lists it down on paper.

We had back-to-back storms this 2020: 5 of them. It left a path of destruction and chaos in parts of our country. COVID19 has brought us to our knees, and the storms made us cry. God is our only hope.

We are importing rice just to mitigate the shortage due to the storms, and I thought the people must try to adapt to the ever-changing environment. Rice is hard to produce and even imports are getting scarce. This is where potatoes come in.

After doing some research, I learned that potatoes are easy to grow. Western counterparts eat potatoes as their staple food. My proposal is that people should change their diets to potatoes rather than rice. This solves the flooding equation because potatoes can be grown indoors even with less sunlight.

I know this is asking too much, but it is crucial to our survival. We must learn to adapt to a new normal. Yes, I know it needs a little getting used to, but it is imperative that as a nation, we should learn from the wrath of nature.

Claire de Lune

At night time, look up and see the vastness of the void. In a clear sky, you can only see a small, white light shining. The moon is there to give clarity that Earth needs light even in empty darkness, ridding of all the complexities in life. It’s there to give us focus. A light that shines brightest.

Open up your music app and listen to piano. Slow moving notes that tingle and delight even the monstrous soul. David used to play for King Saul to cool down his temper that even evil flees away. Music is a part of God, for He is the inventor. An unlimited amount of mixes and compositions from one instrument. Some say that we are His instrument.

The simplest of things are the best things in life. When we break bread and put butter, there is only the essentials. Nothing could replace a glass of water. We are lucky. We thank God for His provisions because only He can provide our sustenance. His kindness is immeasurable.

Thank you, Lord.

Truth and Freedom

Think free! The most gruelling thing during lockdown is being prisoners in our own homes. I could just imagine when vaccines are given, I could fly again and be free. I’ll eat a whole pizza! I’ll run an extra mile until I run out of gas. I’ll do mall hopping and drink freshly brewed coffee. Buy an expensive shirt that says, “Yes, freedom!”

The truth is today I am free. In my one year at our house, I learned to love indoors. I learned to paint again. I learned to write and chat with my nephew and nieces. They are good and awesome! I learned to give. I learned to eat less fat and sugar. I gained a healthier mind and body. I learned the wondrous things that God has done. It is the most liberating and interesting way to spend time during lockdown. I learned to be one with God.

But, I am not alone. I am living with my parents and learned to live with them. Even though it’s tough, I became a servant to them and them with me. We all serve each other. For God didn’t come to Earth to be served, but to serve others.

Serving is humility at its core. Listening is part of serving, and obedience also. We became a team that serves no one and hates no one. Well, I don’t know with them. As Jesus became an example to us, we must be examples to others. “Practice what you preach,” as the saying goes, and it’s rightfully true.

And, the truth shall set us free!
