Salt and Light

You are like salt for everyone on earth. But if salt no longer tastes like salt, how can it make food salty? All it is good for is to be thrown out and walked on.

14 You are like light for the whole world. A city built on top of a hill cannot be hidden, 15 and no one would light a lamp and put it under a clay pot. A lamp is placed on a lampstand, where it can give light to everyone in the house. 16 Make your light shine, so that others will see the good that you do and will praise your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:12-16

The Message

When you come to Christ, people will notice you. It’s impossible for people not to notice you because you have that Light.

We are here for men to see the Light that we have, and share this Light. One lit candle makes the house brighter, two or more candle lit will make it brighter, even in this dark world we are now living. The darker the place, the lit candles will become more visible.

As people see us, we must also be responsible in our daily walk. We must live holy lives for others to see and follow because you are the light for the whole world! Many people are counting on you.

Ultimately, the light that we share will make the world better. And so, we glorify God who gave us His Light. Someday, we will be one with the Light and share His glory.

I remember the time when we had a blackout. It was hard. It was so dark in the evening, and we are sweating so bad we don’t know what to do. So, I was sitting only doing nothing without any laptops or smartphones to do work with. We were just sitting and waiting for the lights to show up, and talking with your folks is hardly a good conversation. After some grueling hours, the lights turned on and we went on with our lives. But I learned a lesson: We need electricity!

Many parts of the world needs electricity like when you need to turn on the heater because it’s so cold. You can read the news today that there is an on-going blackout in some parts of Connecticut up to Maine in the Northeast. That is why we must be prepared when a disaster strikes, and let’s pray for wisdom and protection in this time of crisis. Christians must always be prepared to shine a light for others.

What to Do When AI Fails

AI is unpredictable. If AI produced errors then how do you fix it? This is not just a simple system but a complex one. It’s not just about fixing a ‘bug’ but how you trained the AI with models and data. If AI made a mistake, then who’s responsible especially to critical systems like in health, and national security? After all, we humans are creating machines like humans that commit many mistakes. In the long run, it might cause lawsuits from people who has been harmed by this complex systems. We must be prepared on how to handle AI mistakes.

The Answer To AI Conundrum: Jarvis

If you have seen the movie “Avengers: The Age Of Ultron,” you’ll notice that there were two Artificial Intelligence (AI) battling each other: Good versus Evil. The “Evil” AI is trying to annihilate mankind in order to save the world, and the “Good” AI is helping the Avengers to defeat Ultron, which was “Jarvis,” Tony Stark’s AI assistant. So, there is this battle between good AI and evil AI.

The question is, “Are we making the ‘Good’ AI?”

This question hinges on what man will create. AI is dependent on its creator, and it falls short on what AI could become according to “us” people. But, I will rather be optimistic about this since being pessimistic I believe will never accomplish anything. If we have hope in humanity, then we will have a better future.

The truth is I’ve been trying out AI this past month, and I think it will save us lots of time figuring out things, which AI can make us work faster and more productive if it functions like an assistant rather than producing finished products. Jarvis, in the movie Avengers, is sort of an AI that “assist” only to what Tony wants him to do, and not decide for himself on what to do. AI as an assistant is better off than the one who decides on what to make or do.

In conclusion, I believe in God, and I know that everything will work together for good to those who love Him. So, I don’t put faith on man or machine but to the God who designed and created us for His own glory. Shalom!

The “Age Of Ultron” Is Here!

Humans have now developed an artificial intelligence (AI) that can think like us, and do all kinds of things, robbing us of jobs. In the future, the developers themselves will lose their own jobs when Artificial Intelligence (AI), are capable of creating its own robots like in the movie, “Avengers: The Age Of Ultron.”

If software applications replaced analog, AI will replace most of software apps, and we will lose the power to create something using our human talents.

Personally, I never thought it will be this sudden that today, AI has become so powerful enough to destroy human jobs. This loss of jobs, and the economics of too much supply, will rob us of salary and wealth. Imagine, robots can create music for free! Digital Audio Workstations and VST plugins will lose its worth, or digital paintings will be as beautiful as AI generated ones that you cannot distinguish from the real! I believe that this will drive the economy to a select few AI companies, and software stores will be moot.

Bloody vicious.

I am also fearful that AI, in the wrong hands, will be catastrophic. If the north koreans hacked their systems and stole their source code, then it will be devastating for them (I’m sure). Then, they can create super intelligent malware that could infect any system connected on the Internet, and pay ransom money that could be in billions! (Why not attack banking systems?)

Money will become so scarce that only a few will run the world.
